The princess coat in cashmere gets a revamp alongside A-line dresses and large silver adornments

Miuccia Prada is renowned for bringing the unexpected into fashion, and this season, the Prada collection certainly didn’t disappoint on the surprise front either.
Taking the classic 1960s princess coat as its point of inspiration, the show started with a series of thick cashmere coats and A-line dresses - all adorned with matching low-slung belts and large silver buttons. Kooky prints - something that Prada has become the master of - have this time made their way onto knee-length skirts and button-up blouses. Finally, there were the contrasting textures - wide strips of fur and sheep’s wool unexpectedly sewn onto the lapels and sleeves of cashmere jackets. But all outerwear aside, Prada’s incredible vision came to full bloom when the first palettes hit the runway - round, pointed, even tangled ones - which, when applied to simple shift dresses and combined with square-toed boots gave way to an image that will stay in our minds for months to come.
